How to use a compact cylinder?

  • Various types of compact cylinder: standard, single rod, double rod, stroke adjustable, dual stroke, double output.

  • ➤ Actuating principle of standard type

    • Please make sure the main rod retracts and there is back pressure in cylinder to prevent the main rod from extending suddenly when actuating.
    • When air gets in the cylinder from right port, the piston and main rod will be pushed out by air, and the air in cylinder will be exhausted from left port.
    • When air gets in the cylinder from left port, the piston and main rod will be pushed back by air, and the air in cylinder will be exhausted from right port.

  • ➤ Actuating principle of single acting spring return type - JSI

    • Piston and main rod will be pushed back by spring and in retraction status if there’s no air in cylinder.
    • When air gets in the cylinder, the piston and main rod will be pushed out by air, and spring will be compressed and kept in front cover.
    • When air goes out, piston and main rod will be pushed back by spring and in retraction status.
  • ➤ Actuating principle of single acting spring extend type - JSO

    • Piston and main rod will be pushed out by spring and in extension status if there’s no air in cylinder.
    • When air gets in the cylinder, the piston and main rod will be pushed back by air, and spring will be compressed and kept in rear cover.
    • When air goes out, piston and main rod will be pushed out by spring and in extension status.

  • ➤ Actuating principle of double rod type

    • Please make sure the main rod retracts and there is back pressure in cylinder to prevent the main rod from extending suddenly when actuating.
    • When air gets in the cylinder from right port, the piston and main rod will be pushed out by air, and the air in cylinder will be exhausted from left port.
    • When air gets in the cylinder from left port, the piston and main rod will be pushed back by air, and the air in cylinder will be exhausted from right port.

  • ➤ Actuating principle of stroke adjustable (extension) type - JDAD

    • Please make sure the main rod retracts and there is back pressure in cylinder to prevent the main rod from extending suddenly when actuating.
    • When air gets in the cylinder from right port, the piston and main rod will be pushed out by air, and the air in cylinder will be exhausted from left port, when air gets in the cylinder from left port, the piston and main rod will be pushed back by air, and the air in cylinder will be exhausted from right port.
    • Turn the adjustable nut to the position you want then fix it, and repeat step 2 you’ll find the extending stroke is getting short, but retracting position won’t be changed.
    • To reset to original stroke, just turn the adjustable nut to the rod end and fix it.
  • ➤ Actuating principle of stroke adjustable (retraction) type - JDAR

    • Please make sure the main rod retracts and there is back pressure in cylinder to prevent the main rod from extending suddenly when actuating.
    • When air gets in the cylinder from right port, the piston and main rod will be pushed out by air, and the air in cylinder will be exhausted from left port, when air gets in the cylinder from left port, the piston and main rod will be pushed back by air, and the air in cylinder will be exhausted from right port.
    • Turn the adjustable screw to the position you want then fix it, and repeat step 2 you’ll find the retracting stroke is getting short, but extending position won’t be changed.
    • To reset to original stroke, just turn the adjustable screw to the far right then fix it.

  • ➤ Actuating principle of dual stroke type – JDF

    • Please make sure the main rod retracts and there is back pressure in cylinder to prevent the main rod from extending suddenly when actuating.
    • When air gets in the right side cylinder from D port, the left side piston and main rod will be pushed out by the right side piston and main rod which are pushed out by air, and the air in cylinder will be exhausted from A and C port, and this is the first stage stroke.
    • When air gets in the left side cylinder from B port, the left side piston and main rod will be pushed out by air, and the air in cylinder will be exhausted from A port, and this is the second stage stroke.
    • When air gets in the cylinder from A port, the piston and main rod will be pushed back by air, and the air in cylinder will be exhausted from B and D port.
  • ➤ Related compact cylinder – dual stroke type

  • ➤ Actuating principle of double output type – JDM

    • Please make sure the main rod retracts and there is back pressure in cylinder to prevent the main rod from extending suddenly when actuating.
    • When air gets in the cylinder from B and D port, the piston and main rod will be pushed out by air, and the air in cylinder will be exhausted from A and C port. Main rod is pushed by the pistons in B and D, so the output will be double than general cylinders.
    • When air gets in the cylinder from A port, the piston and main rod will be pushed back by air, and the air in cylinder will be exhausted from B and D port.
